RAVE REVIEWS
"Anyone interested in the current challenges facing our schools and communities in regards to safety needs to listen to what Cheri has to say. She has been involved in the aftermath of both Columbine and 9/11. After listening to what she had to say I can understand why she is called upon when disaster strikes." --Tony Arasi More from our clients

Administrative & Organizational Issues (1/2 Day)
Overview: This half-day workshop is a terrific foundation for those who respond to crisis or for those who are responsible for the well-being of students or staff in the event of tragedy, crisis or catastrophic events. It covers topics to include in the schedule for getting through the day as well as philosophical and practical actions to take from the first day on through follow-up. The focus for this workshop leans toward viewing the needs of the recovery for the human population and less focused on the emergency responder roles. Although some scenarios used for practice involve how to interface with law enforcement and emergency responders, greater emphasis is placed on the human intervention. Goals: Participants will leave this workshop with a good comprehension of the “map” of unfolding response to crises and tragedies. Part of responding well is avoiding litigation and management of media and outside influences.
Intended audience: Site-based and central office administrators, counselors, teachers, facilities managers, maintenance, crisis response team members, safety officers, custodial and transportation staff and any collaborating agencies that would be apt to be involved in responding to crises on the school campus. Prerequisites: None.

Catastrophic Events Resource Manual This cutting edge guide prepares school districts for a variety of catastrophic events, from school shootings to the rupture of a gas main or toxic industrial spill. Organized for immediate use when a crisis is unfolding on school grounds during the school day, a major portion of the manual is the "how to prepare" component. It includes a section on media relations for dealing with the influx of satellite dish trucks from national media, including guidelines for press conferences and press releases. Training Manual The Training Manual was originally sold only to participants in five-day crisis team trainings offered by CMI and is highly recommended for participants in the Facilitator Training. Each chapter covers a different content area, and some chapters have exercises designed to help participants become more aware of their own unfinished grieving from past experiences. This allows them to be able to predict what kinds of crisis situations may be difficult once they're responding in the school setting. View or purchase materials |
