Suicide Issues
Overview: The greatest indicator of a death by suicide is a previous attempt. Most children who commit suicide gave warning signs that others in their lives missed. Goals: To help all school staff recognize the warning signs of suicide, to learn how to engage the child and earn their trust, to learn intervention strategies and, ultimately, to save lives. Intended audience: Anyone! Content: Some statistics on suicide, the phenomenon of suicide, intervention and referral, responding to schools in the aftermath of a death by suicide, addressing the possibilities of copy-cat suicides.
