Trauma Intervention (2 day)
Overview: When the traumatic memory lodges in the limbic system, traditional counseling is usually ineffective. This workshop teaches the trauma content from the two half-day trauma workshops listed above on Day One. Day Two is all skill-building and practice for providing trauma interventions (similar to "debriefings" provided for first responders, but created with the victim/survivor issues in mind).
Goals: For participants to understand the relationship of the biochemistry and physiology of the traumatic response to the mode of therapeutic intervention that will be helpful. Intended audience: Counselors, school psychologists, nurses, teachers, others who have particular skill in this area. Content: All that is listed in the two half-day trauma workshops plus the intervention strategy. Prerequisites: Helpful to have grief workshops. Related materials: Handout is provided.
